Artist = Zombie
exhibition on the death of Art

The performance of the Artist=Zombie project is based on the exhibition of twelve 50 x 70 photos accompanied by a reading of various points of the Manifesto that explains why Artists are Zombies.

The performance may be staged in two ways.

• The first is based on a simple reading of the Manifesto with an exhibition of the photos, and lasts about 10 minutes.
• The second however – which may last up to 60 minutes - is based on the dialogue with the audience. As a matter of fact the issues tackled by the Manifesto are investigated deeper, by explaining their sources and grounds and inviting the audience to express their considerations and opinions in an exchange with the Zombie Artist.

In both cases the performer wears heavy zombie make-up but behaves like a normal person, and at the end he allows the audience to “kill” him, as is the case in every classic zombie movie and as announced at the end of the Manifesto:
Killing a zombie is not murder. They were dead already. Is killing an artist murder?

The performance is adaptable to any setting and may include the video installations.

It debuted at the Buti Theatre (PI) for the “Piccoli Fuochi” festival on 27 September 2013.

And each performance might be the last.
